Private dog training, boarding, and socialization classes in the Twin Cities area.

Boarding

  • If you're hesitant to leave your furry friend in a boarding facility then I have a solution for you. I offer a home setting for your pet to rest comfortably. While boarding, your pet will be offered different games and exercises to drain mental energy, and long walks for a physical outlet. Dogs are never kenneled unless specifically requested.

Weekend Socialization Classes

  • Social group was formed to build confidence, build greater impulse control around other dogs, and to stimulate your dog mentally. We play games, work on basic cues, and practice impulse control as a group. There is also agility equipment that I play with in groups of 2 or 3. This is a drop-off, pick-up work group. Parents are not required to stay.

Private Training

  • I travel to fit your training needs. Whether it’s your home, park or a restaurant patio, there is no limit to location as long as dogs are allowed.

I use a combination of Pavlovian conditioning and operant conditioning. These two training methods will help build better communication and understanding in training. My goal for you and your pup is to build your confidence in each other and individually.

    Private classes offer:

    ▪︎Obedience Training

This area of training includes touch, focus, sit, down, stay, recall, and place. You will learn skill work in loose leash walking, impulse control, body handling and handler focus.

    ▪︎Reactivity/Anxiety

This is for dogs who become overstimulated by the environment, people or other dogs. Training in this area reconditions your dog to gain the ability to regulate and calm themselves down. We work heavily on body handling and confidence building for you and your dog.

One-on-One’s With Leigh

  • Super busy and lack the time to stimulate your dog mentally? The one-on-one might be helpful for you. I can pick up or you can drop off your pet and I will work with them individually to challenge the mind as you continue to go about your day. Activities might include, but are not limited to:

    • Controlled walk (A walk in which your dog must practice impulse control in order to gain access to anything rewarding.)

    • ‘Place’ or ‘Down-stay’ at a location discussed, to promote and generalize calm behavior.

    • Basic obedience cues to challenge the brain.

Your dog will come back feeling mentally drained and satisfied, which ultimately benefits both of you.
